News AssetMark Establishes East Coast Hub at 2825 South
2825 South is pleased to announce AssetMark, a wealth management platform for financial advisors, has leased 48,107 square feet at the office and retail building in South End. The transaction includes the entire top floor (6th floor) and a portion of the 5th floor.
This transaction represents the establishment of AssetMark’s East Coast hub at 2825 South. Adhesion Wealth Advisor Solutions, an affiliate of AssetMark, has been a tenant in the building since 2024, originally leasing 13,711 square feet on the 5th floor. AssetMark will occupy 61,457 square feet on the 5th and 6th floors.
The expansion is estimated to bring a $10 million capital investment and is expected to create 252 new jobs. The 2825 South location will support approximately 4,300 advisors across the region. New positions will include roles like product engineers and designers, senior sales relationship managers, trading engineers, and operations, finance, and human resources personnel. The average annual wage for these new jobs is projected to be over $110,000, which is higher than Mecklenburg County’s average wage. Charlotte was selected over other major cities like Atlanta and Phoenix after a nationwide search. AssetMark’s expansion is expected to have a substantial economic impact, with an estimated growth of over $1.2 billion for North Carolina’s economy.
Mark McNally, Jack Glasgow, and Patrick McCoy with Newmark represented AssetMark in the transaction. Rhea Greene and Chase Merkel with Trinity Partners represented the landlords.
“AssetMark’s choice to establish their East Coast hub at 2825 South truly validates what we’ve known about the building all along,” said Chase Merkel, Director, Trinity Partners. “From the day the building delivered, companies have been drawn to everything it has to offer, from an exceptional location, unique floorplates and views, and hands-on, engaging ownership and management. We’re actively touring the remaining spec suite spaces and anticipate additional leasing announcements soon.”
The six-story, Class-A office, and retail building on South Boulevard at Elmhurst and Marsh Roads totals more than 138,000 SF. Four floors of office space sit atop a structured parking deck, allowing for gorgeous city views from the building’s corner balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows. Current office tenants include Charter Properties, LoanBoss, Pinnacle Financial Partners, Aston Properties, and Samet Construction. Craft Beauty opens later this summer and additional retail announcements are coming soon. Trinity Partners manages the building on behalf of ownership.
“2825 South is an integral part of our Sedgefield redevelopment vision of creating a vibrant community through a diverse mix of office, residential, and retail,” said Jamie McLawhorn, President, Marsh Properties. “As one of our building’s first tenants, AssetMark appreciates the unique benefits of that community and our location,” “Tenants can take advantage of South End’s amenities and the exceptional connectivity to other popular south Charlotte destinations like Park Road and SouthPark via Marsh and Poindexter Roads.”
With this latest transaction, 12,389 square feet of office space remains across three spec suites available for immediate occupancy. The building, developed by Marsh Properties and Aston Properties, is a part of Marsh’s Sedgefield redevelopment, which includes the popular Sedgefield Shopping center directly across from 2825 South and home to Harris Teeter, The Waterman, and Core 704 Pilates Studio. Its position along South Boulevard at Marsh and Elmhurst Roads allows tenants easy access to Uptown, I-77, and South Charlotte, avoiding common traffic hotspots.
