LakePointe Corporate Center 3 and 5 Awarded LEED Silver Certification

Charlotte, NC –April 23, 2012 – Trinity Partners’ Property Management Team is pleased toannounce that LakePointe Corporate Center 3 and 5, a property of Wells Real Estate Funds, have been awarded LEED® Silver Certification as established by the U.S. Green Building Council and verified by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI).

LEED is the nation’s preeminent program for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. Trinity Partners’ Director of Operations, Jay Coombs (LEED AP BD + C), managed the year-long certification process, working closely with Keith Bowker, Senior Property Manager, and Caroline Stephens, Tenant Services Coordinator. The team facilitated property improvements to meet the LEED standards, including:

  • Installing low-flow water devices in restrooms to reduce water usage
  • Programming building automation systems to control lighting for after-hour savings
  • Upgrading air filtration systems to increase the indoor air quality
  • Implementing eco-friendly and sustainable cleaning procedures and equipment

“Trinity Partners is honored to have assisted Wells Real Estate in achieving Silver certification for the LakePointe Properties,” said Coombs. “With only a handful of LEED EB projects actually certified in Charlotte, this was an important accomplishment for Wells and Trinity.”

Managed by Trinity Partners since April of 2009, the firm has worked diligently on behalf of the buildings’ owners to make the assets as environmentally friendly as possible. Prior to the recent LEED certification, both buildings received Energy Star Certification from the Environmental Protection Agency in the summer of 2011. “From a business perspective, LEED Certification allows us to realize meaningful operational efficiencies,” noted Scott Meadows, Managing Director at Wells Real Estate. “But more importantly, creating and encouraging
a more sustainable and eco-friendly operating platform for our buildings is just the right thing to do,” he added.

LakePointe Corporate Center 3 and 5 are four-story suburban office buildings totaling approximately 111,000 square feet each and located in the prestigious LakePointe Corporate Center Business Park at the northeast corner of West Tyvola Road and Billy Graham Parkway. Its proximity to both I-77 and I-85 enables employers to benefit from convenient interstate access. In addition, amenities in the area include numerous hotels and restaurants, the Billy Graham Library, and Renaissance Park, which offers a variety of outdoor activities including golf, tennis, volleyball, bike trails and soccer.
